My stepdad owns a very old farm in Northern Michigan. We were visiting him there one day this past August.
As he’s gotten older, he’s gotten more stubborn and more argumentative. More Swedish! Sometimes we think he argues just out of boredom.
I took a walk and noticed large energetic clouds billowing over the trees. I went back to the farm where he was sitting in the shade at his picnic table. “There’s a storm coming,” I said.
“There’s no storm coming!” he challenged. I pointed to the sky in quiet reply at this scene.
15 minutes later it was pouring.
This painting was purchased by another stubborn Swede, this one a fisherman, who also refuses to believe that a storm may be coming!
