“Narrow is the Path” 24×12 for $529
24″h X 12″w oil on canvas depicting church ruins in the Jemez Mountains of New Mexico
Description
There is much to think about in this painting!
This scene is based on the Jemez Historical Site in Jemez Springs, New Mexico. There are the ruins of an ancient village, and an old Spanish Mission Church from the 1600’s. The church was constructed about the same time the English Pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock!
In this painting, the adobe bricks mimic the natural stone of the surrounding hills. But no matter how glorious or beautiful a manmade structure is, it falls short of the majesty of the natural features around us. The hill is taller than the steeple. A lone soul contemplates the impressive walls, himself clad in the blues and greens of the sky.
