Description
Presque Isle City Park in Marquette, MI is a peninsula jutting into Lake Superior. It’s a formation of Jacobsville sandstone, layered over 1.7 billion year old peridotite, a volcanic formed rock. On the north and east sides of the peninsula, the sandstone has been weathered away over millennia to expose the black volcanic bedrock. Further weathering and shifting has left us with some really cool rock formations and outcrops.
Short story: It’s a beautiful place to paint!
